Yes, a little slow to get on board, but I finally signed up for an account at Remember the Milk. I didn't think I had all that much to put on it, but apparently there was more than a few things to get organized.
If you haven't used it, try it out... It allows you to manage your to-do lists in a pretty useful way. It's not over-bearing and it seems to have some decent integration (including gmail through a Firefox add-on - summed up on the RTM blog). You can also print out your lists and subscribe to them as RSS/Atom feeds.
Oh, and you can share tasks with other users, so there's a good collaborative feel to it. That could be useful for projects where people aren't necessarily in direct contact. You know, in case you actually *need* to remember the milk.
One last thing... Does anyone else think of Sesame Street when they see it? "A loaf of bread, a container of milk, and a stick of butter..."
There is a way to change your Windows XP desktop without having to super-hack it up. I found out about this the other day, and I wish I'd had it a few years ago... it makes Windows more bearable, instead of a couple of defaults, we can actually customize it.
First, you can go to this link, which will show you how to get the first component to changing your theme. After you install that and restart your system, you can go out there and get a new theme (or two). The one I'm using (called Human) is from here.
Do the following to get them in place (thanks go to Sean, 'cause I ripped this from our chat about this):
also from Sean: It should then show up in the list on the Appearance tab on desktop properties. A lot of these custom styles have 'compact' schemes - that refers to the start menu, comapct means the stuff in the right column is icons-only.
After using it for about a week... I like it, and I feel like I have more space available. Combine that with something like TaskSwitchXP which lets you minimize any app to the tray (more on that later), and you've got a nice setup for your Windows system.
I need some help. Right now I use iTunes for all of my podcasting goodness. I'm not sure that I like it though... It's mostly good, and I mostly like it. They're pretty well managed, and I can edit what I need to (most of the time), but I can't add externally downloaded podcasts and have them show up in that directory.
I'm looking for something else (maybe), and I want to get some recommendations. I already looked in a couple of places (like Podcasting News and Wikipedia), but I'd like some feedback on what other people are using before I start installing everything.
As far as features go, I'm looking for something that works like almost a cross between iTunes and Picasa, but for audio. It would allow me to subscribe to podcasts and manage them, and (hopefully) have bittorrent support... I'll leave the rest open for now.
